Vision 2023: A Recap

A look back to the 2023 client user conference

This month, we at GTreasury were thrilled to host our annual client conference, Vision 2023. 2023 has already seen remarkable complexity within the market, and navigating these peaks and valleys has been at the forefront of everyone’s minds in the industry. Because of that, this year’s theme of Navigating Change was echoed throughout the conference, in conversations, presentations, sessions, and workshops.

In coming together for the conference, over 200 attendees, including clients, partners, and sponsors, were able to share stories, insights, and dynamic ways to confidently manage the highs and lows of our new normal. The event was packed with educational sessions, workshops, incredible speakers, live demos, tons of valuable networking experiences, and of course, fun events to share with peers and colleagues. We’re so grateful for the support of our clients, speakers, and sponsors who made this conference such an amazing success.

Before the commencement of Vision, clients, speakers, and sponsors came together for a welcome reception. It was an evening to network, chat, and enjoy stunning views of the Chicago Loop and Lake Michigan from the top of Swissotel, along with Chicago-neighborhood themed bites and drinks.

Vision is held with our clients in mind, so we were overjoyed to be able to give out the annual Vision Awards in person for the first time ever this year at Vision 2023. This year, we celebrated some of our most strident supporters and advocates, with awards such as Promoters and Influencers, and Advocate of the Year, as well as our Cash, Payment, and Risk Champions, topped off with our Innovator of the Year Award.

All three days of Vision were filled with learning and growth opportunities, as well. Our CEO, Renaat Ver Eecke, opened the conference with an overview of how GTreasury and our clients can work together to confidently navigate change in an uncertain future. Themes of historical change, growth, and lessons for the future carried from this opening presentation throughout the conference, signaling our shared goals within the industry. Panel discussions and roundtables allowed attendees to hear from industry leaders on past experiences and accomplishments and how those wins can be shared and applied when making difficult decisions.

Along with the idea of connectivity, another major theme of the conference was teamwork and a shared future within treasury. Day two began with an engrossing keynote speech by Jeff Evans, an expert adventurer, medic, and author on trust, accountability, teamwork, and what the qualities of true leadership can look like.

We were honored to have some of the top industry voices lead discussions on several critical topics affecting the current outlook of treasury. Helen Kane, Founder of Hedge Trackers and resident expert on hedging, led two thought-provoking sessions on Cautionary Tales in Risk Management and Normal Has Been Redefined, which served to educate attendees on how to face a multitude of business challenges, as well as how to take those lessons and apply them to future conflict.

We were also pleased to welcome NDepth in their discussion on Five Key Trends Affecting Treasurers, as well as C2FO’s presentation on Macro-Economic Trends Impacting the Business World—timely topics that help treasurers and their supporting colleagues think dynamically about how to best capitalize on the latest trends. Strategic Treasurer similarly spoke on the Treasury Paradigm Shift and how the latest advancements and knowledge within the treasury world can be the keys to greater success.

Following this theme, PwC presented on Elevating and Sustaining Treasury’s Strategic Impact, empowering treasury leaders to continue to make confident, effective decisions for their businesses. More on that strategic element, Goldman Sachs Asset Management spoke about The Hunt for Yield and how to identify and leverage key opportunities as they arise.

One of the most valuable aspects of Vision 2023 was our ability to come together in person to meet, network, and share ideas with one another. Community and culture are a big part of what makes GTreasury special, and we were happy to facilitate conversations between associates and peers throughout the event. Fellow treasurers and colleagues in all areas of the industry were able to share strategy and get to the heart of new developments in treasury and the current market conditions we face daily.

Networking at the Sponsor Happy Hour

Clients were eager to get hands-on experience working in our instructional workshop sessions and demonstrations, including information on preparing for LIBOR Transition in North America, Reporting, Troubleshooting, and Module Heath Optimization. In these hour-long sessions, attendees were able to get valuable, in-depth instruction on how to best apply technical and analytical solutions within their roles.

We at GTreasury were also thrilled to offer numerous Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) Credit-worthy sessions at Vision. The credit-available sessions varied in scope from more instructional topics such as Risk Management, Hedging, and Volatility to Sponsor Spotlights with NDepth, Strategic Treasurer, Goldman Sachs Asset Management, PwC, KYOs, and C2FO. These sessions ensured that our attendees were able to learn while also gaining valuable annual professional credit.

After day two of Vision, attendees were invited to share in some after-hours festivity at Chicago’s Three Dots and a Dash, a traditional tiki lounge and hotspot in the heart of the Chicago Loop. This was a night of celebration, as all were able to enjoy a relaxing evening of community and fun, along with a few delicious and creative tiki drinks.

In all, we at GTreasury couldn’t be prouder of Vision 2023’s success, only made possible by our amazing clients and the unparalleled support of our speakers and sponsors. Together, we were able to navigate accelerated change, explore interoperability and connectivity, put it all together, and gain expertise to move confidently into the future of treasury and finance. Building new connections and celebrating our successes were the extra elements that made it an unforgettable event. We can’t wait for what’s to come at Vision 2024—stay tuned!
