Employee Name: Ayla Harvey
Location: Asheville, NC, United States
Job Title: Senior Copywriter
Length of time at GTreasury: 1 year, 9 months
Q: What do you believe are your key strengths?
As a writer, I bring thoughtfulness and attention to detail to each project, from ideation to completion. Staying flexible and adaptable is an important facet of working in content marketing, as goals can change quickly in fast-paced environments. These qualities also correlate to my relationships with colleagues—I strive to be a thoughtful and reliable team member. When everyone on a team stays dedicated and communicates effectively with other colleagues, it makes it easier for the entire team to successfully collaborate and get work done.
Q: How do you keep track of the things you need to do?
The marketing team uses Monday.com to manage our projects and tasks, so that’s a tool I constantly use to keep track of my work. I also keep daily to-do lists for myself that make it easier to prioritize specific tasks that need to be completed that day.
Q: What makes you happy in a job?
Work/life balance and the ability to be creative are huge factors, as well as a positive company culture. I also enjoy collaborating with like-minded people on creative marketing efforts and content strategy.
Q: Why do you feel you have work/life balance? Do you have any tips/tricks for others to improve their work/life balance?
I strive to set strong personal boundaries to ensure I maintain my work/life balance. Half-day Fridays are an incredible perk GTreasury offers, and I feel like it emphasizes the importance of company-wide work/life balance here. For those looking to improve this balance, I’d definitely recommend setting expectations for yourself and communicate those expectations to your team too.
An easy tip: if you have work apps on your phone, turn notifications off at the end of your workday or create a setting where notifications only pop up during work hours—most things can wait until tomorrow!
Q: Think about a good manager you’ve had. What did they do that made them a good manager?
The best managers I’ve had lead with empathy, kindness, accountability, and transparency. A great manager doesn’t micromanage but makes themselves available when you have questions or need support. Positive reinforcement goes a long way to help me stay motivated and avoid burnout.
Q: What do you like about the work environment or culture here?
I like that collaboration and experimentation are encouraged company-wide, paired with growth and professional development opportunities. Additionally, I appreciate how the company supports and prioritizes a healthy work/life balance for employees.
Q: Who are some of your biggest inspirations at GTreasury?
The whole marketing team works incredibly hard to meet lofty goals while experimenting with new methods to improve our marketing and communication efforts.
Q: How have you grown professionally at GTreasury?
This is my first role in SaaS AND finance, so I’m grateful to have learning and growth opportunities while being immersed in this competitive industry. I have learned so much about the intricacies of treasury and finance during my time at GTreasury (which has also been beneficial personally), as well as how to effectively market software to prospective clients. Most other roles in my career have been B2C marketing-focused (business-to-consumer), so delving into the B2B (business-to-business) space has been rewarding as well.
Q: What’s the best advice you can give to someone who just started their career?
Don’t be afraid to advocate for yourself, whether that’s asking for a wage increase, growth opportunities, or additional support you need in the workplace. For women particularly, it’s important to remember that you deserve to be treated well and compensated fairly. Try not to get bogged down by imposter syndrome and remember that you’ve gotten this far for a reason.
Q: What’s something you are passionate about outside of the workplace?
Music has always been my #1 hobby—I grew up playing flute and piccolo, so being immersed in it from a young age definitely influenced this lifelong passion and respect for music. I love discovering newer bands and artists with less exposure and supporting their art. I’ve probably seen at least 300 concerts. I’m also very passionate about supporting social justice and human rights causes through education and advocacy.
