Q: What do you believe are your key strengths?
A: Accountability is my number one strength. I am accountable for both successes and failures. I adapt and adjust in response to changes and challenges.
Q: How do you keep track of the things you need to do?
A: I always jot down notes during meetings about emails I need to send or tasks to complete. I use the Sticky Notes app so whenever I boot up my device, my tasks are right there. For any projects or future tasks, I use the Outlook calendar. This helps me plan ahead, especially working by myself in APAC.
Q: What makes you happy in a job?
A: The number one thing that makes me happy is a healthy relationship with my colleagues and managers. As someone in IT, it’s also important to have the feeling that my purpose contributes to a larger impact. We don’t deal face to face with clients, but in any company or industry, IT is the backbone.
Q: Why do you feel you have work/life balance? Do you have any tips/tricks for others to improve their work/life balance?
A: I feel that I have work/life balance because I can effectively manage my professional and personal life. I have small kids who I drop off in the morning and pick up in the afternoon. Flexibility in my work arrangement and not having the requirement to be in the office all the time helps a lot. Having a supportive manager is a huge part of this. My tip for others is to manage your time wisely and prioritize your tasks.
Q: Think about a good manager you’ve had. What did they do that made them a good manager?
A: A good manager knows how to direct and trust their employees’ abilities. They support and encourage their employees to succeed in their professional goals.
Q: What do you like about the work environment or culture here?
A: At GTreasury, we make great efforts to achieve the latest and greatest in technology. As someone in IT, this is something we strive for, to make sure our systems are secure and efficient. I believe that using the right tool for the job gives you the right results. This makes the clients happy!
Q: Who are some of your biggest inspirations at GTreasury?
A: Rick Schweiger and James Mendoza. Inspiration, for me, is seeing myself in their shoes. Rick and James do an amazing job finding time, despite their busy schedules, to check in with our whole team, making sure that we are well and able to function.
Q: How have you grown professionally at GTreasury?
A: I’ve learned to be patient. When I first started here, I worked alone in an office, so I had my own patterns and processes that I followed. GTreasury has its own pace in terms of progress, and it’s taught me patience. I’ve also improved my time management at GTreasury. I stick to my schedule, prioritize, and set time limits to maintain work/life balance.
Q: What’s the best advice you can give to someone who just started their career?
A: Speak up! If you’re new and you need help, don’t be afraid to ask questions. Express your ideas and thoughts in a professional way. At GTreasury there is a lot of encouragement to speak up, share your ideas, and collaborate.
Q: What’s something you are passionate about outside of the workplace?
A: I have a hobby of collecting action figures. I have collections of Transformers, Star Wars, and anime characters. I also enjoy traveling with my family, locally and internationally. When I have time, I enjoy playing basketball and video games.
